Most dogs love to get in the car and go somewhere other than the backyard or do the same walk every day. Our little Lexi has never liked to ride in the car, and so we do not take her with us on trips.

There are times you want to bring your pets with you but need to plan for the trip differently than if you traveled alone. Make sure your dog has a checkup with the vet to make sure they are healthy and have all their vaccines current.

Be sure you pack all medications they might need, including nausea and heartworm medication.

Carry your vaccine records or certificate with you, and scanned medical records to a USB drive.

If they aren’t microchipped, be sure and get that done before you leave, as you do not want them to get lost and not be able to track them.

Make sure you have a safety harness or carrier in your vehicle to keep your pets protected in case of an accident. You can go to Amazon below to find what works for your pet.

  1. Love this post! There is a lot of great information in this post! I definitely need a harness for Cici as she is all over the place, pacing the back seat! Thanks for the website. I’m bookmarking it now!

  2. Thank you! Yes, I think it is the best and gives you access to so much for our fur babies, and the way you guys travel all over with them, I am so glad you can utilize all they have to offer. Also, good Old Amazon!

    1. Most of the time we take our dogs when we visit villages. My two pomeranian dogs are very social and friendly. The only thing we are limited is the dining options. Some restaurants don’t allow me pets. But so far we always find several restaurants or cafe who welcome our pets.

      1. Thank you for your comment, Vinn! Yes, more and more places are accepting our pets and giving us more options when we travel with them.

  3. We recently traveled with Razor to the mountains. He loved it. I found a lot of information on Bring Fido. We had a blast with him and he didn’t have to go to the spa.

    1. Thank you for your comment, Jenny! I know our fur babies tend to love adventure as we do and knowing we have accommodations for them, makes our trip much more enjoyable.
